"Brenda Wineapple is an American nonfiction writer, literary critic, and essayist. Her books include Ecstatic Nation: Confidence, Crisis, and Compromise, 1848-1877; White Heat: The Friendship of Emily Dickinson and Thomas Wentworth Higginson; Hawthorne: A Life; Sister Brother: Gertrude and Leo Stein; andGenĂȘt: A Biography of Janet Flanner.
